The Galapagos sea lion (Zalophus wollebacki) lives only in this
archipelago. On the beach Lobería of San Cristobal Island, hundreds of
lava rocks are one of their breeding areas. This specimen was resting
peacefully on the sand, which took the opportunity to get close enough
and make a detail of its flipper.
The photo was selected by the editors of the National Geographic website in the "Your Shot" section to be published in the "Daily Dozen" on november 10, 2014.
